Welcome to Brewery Gulch Inn Bed and Breakfast!The distinctive Brewery Gulch Inn, 1 mile south of the historic town of Mendocino, combines yesterday's history with today's comforts. On 10 acres encompassing mature pine trees, redwoods, hundreds of rhododendrons, and many native plants, this extraordinary Craftsman-style inn features 150-year-old eco-salvaged, first growth timbers. The site, overlooking Smuggler's Cove and the Pacific Ocean, provides a peaceful retreat for those enjoying the North Coast's many recreational opportunities and the delights of Mendocino.Each of Brewery Gulch Inn's 10 spacious and luxuriously appointed guestrooms is individually designed to capture views of the ocean. Each room features seating in comfortable leather club chairs in front of the fireplace, down comforters, dataport telephone, clock radio with CD player, and armoire with color television. The bathrooms have a tub/shower combination; several have either a Jacuzzi or soaking tub for 2. They all have terry robes, hair dryers, amenity baskets, and granite-surfaced vanities with redwood cabinets. Eight of the rooms have private decks. A full gourmet breakfast is included, as well as hors d'oeuvres for an early evening wine hour featuring Mendocino County wines. Here the Pacific coastline, at its most magnificent, is matched by man in the picturesque Victorian village of Mendocino, built in the 1880s. The first breathtaking view of the town rising above rocky headlands tantalizes, even after passing through pastoral Anderson Valley wine country and the majestic redwoods along the Navarro River. Recreation and Activities in or near Mendocino:Choose from an outstanding array of fun things to do year long - live theatre, hiking, canoeing up berry-laden Big River, diving, ocean kayaking, fishing, beach horseback riding, golf, tennis, shopping, and special events. On the second Saturday of each month, the art galleries hold open house. Stroll through the village lanes, sipping excellent local wines and noshing on tasty hors d'oeuvres at each stop, gazing at the starry skies as you go. In spring and fall there's the annual whale migration and in September, Winesong, the Bacchanalian wine and food fest and auction at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Fourth of July offers a parade like none other with imaginative entries like the All-Susan Marching Band. The summer Music Festival, running the last 2 weeks in July in a big, white tent on the headlands, is a yearly highlight. During the holidays you can join the sing-a-long Messiah at the Presbyterian church. This oft-photographed landmark was built of coastal redwood in 1867 with an English Gothic edifice facing the sea.
